I
met Two Evil Men
I
met two evil men
On
my journey to finding freedom
Both
men had monster blood
Running
in their wild veins.
One
evil man fought order
And
triumphed.
The
land hailed him hero;
Sung
praises to his fame,
Admired
his power and valour,
Feared
his strength and energy.
They
imitated his temperament,
Sought
not to judge, but explain, him,
Struggling
to peer at him in large rallies.
Another
evil man fought order
And
was defeated.
The
land shouted out his wickedness,
Stumped
feet with hurricane rage,
Mocked
him as he trailed to jail,
Applauded
as the noose gripped his neck
And
admired his prosecutors.
Fearing
the malice of his sympathisers,
They
demolished the remains of his holdings.
Seething
to judge, not to understand, him,
They
shied away from his grave
As
they dirty his epitaph with insults.
I
no longer see the two evil men
For
one is now a throned messiah
And
another rotting in a mocked tomb.
