Museveni Promotes Special Forces, Military Intelligence Commanders

•President Museveni has promoted senior army commanders, a move seen as aimed at boosting morale and rewarding excellence in the armed forces.

•Officials say the Commander Special Forces Command Colonel Don Nabaasa has been promoted to Brigadier while the Director Chieftaincy Military Intelligence (CMI) Col Abel Kandiho has also been promoted to the rank of Brigadier.

•Army spokesperson Brig Richard Karemire is expected to release the entire promotions list comprising over 300 officers. The promotions come at a time the military is intensifying training of infantry forces and armoured warfare teams in what President Museveni says is part of NRM’s strategy to create a powerful army.
