Directors of the Red pepper publication have been charged before Buganda Road
Court with 7 counts including; publication of information prejudicial to
security , libel, and offensive communication. The 7 include ;
Richard Tusiime , Johnson Musinguzi, Patrick Mugumya ; and Arinatiwe Rugyendo.
•Others
are Richard Kintu; the Deputy News
Editor , James Mujuni a journalist ,
Ben Byarabaha, a senior Editor and Francis Tumusiime; the special
project Editor.
•A
prosecutor from the Uganda Communications Commission handled the case to fill
the gap created by the striking state prosecutors. Prosecution states
that on the 20th /Novemever 2017 at the
Red pepper offices in Namanve Mukono district, the
accused unlawfully caused publication and distribution of a newspaper
head line regarding the military operations, strategies and troop
location well knowing that such publication can disrupt public Order and
security.
