•A city pastor, Isaac Lubega insists
that the current Uganda flag where the Crested Crane is standing on
one leg and
looking backwards is not representative of the country. He proposes that
a change is required to introduce a flying crane to symbolise that the
country has intentions of moving forward.
•Lubega argues
that the crested crane standing on one leg ‘facing the dead end’ ignores the
strides Uganda has made towards economic, social and political development.
•The current
national flag was designed by then Minister of Justice Grace Ibingira,
approved by the British administration and adopted on 9th October
1962.
•Lubega adds
that the new
proposed National flag will consist of; a red star
and the compass, symbolising the Spirit of nationalism and Leadership
rotation, 15 Black stars, refering to the
15 Ethnic political regions of Uganda with the spirit of unity and ownership.
